Mordecai Island is just one of hundreds of marsh islands that dot the coastal waters of the Jersey shore. Join Linda and Jim to discover what makes this one different? This rapidly eroding island that straddles the Liberty Thoroughfare in Beach Haven is actively protected by a non-profit environmental trust! Learn about the diversity of the island’s abundant plants, wildlife, and surrounding marine life and Mordecai Land Trust’s effort’s to preserve them. Learn about the use of rib mussels on oysters to create living shoreline reefs on the island, our projects to build and maintain lost land mass with the help of USACE and NJDEP partnerships, and our ongoing collaborations with ReClam the Bay.
